Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows the surgeon to take pictures of endometriosis that reveal the many different stages of endometriosis. Endometriosis is a common problem of the female reproductive system that can cause reduced fertility or pelvic pain.

Endometriosis usually forms visible implants along the pelvic peritoneum, the membrane that completely lines the pelvic cavity and also covers the pelvic organs. The initial reaction to endometriosis is inflammatory. This inflammation results in irritation of the peritoneum to often initially form clear vesicles (look like blisters, is “atypical endometriosis,” for additional information see http://www.thenewjerseyfemaleinfertilitycenter.com/p_ovary_03.php ). These clear vesicles of endometriosis can progress to red flame endometriosis lesions (looks like strawberry jam, is “atypical endometriosis,” for additional information see http://www.thenewjerseyfemaleinfertilitycenter.com/p_pelvic_cavity_02.php ). Subsequently, the red flame lesions of endometriosis can develop into brown or black endometriosis lesions (look like powder burn marks, is “classic endometriosis,” for more information see http://www.thenewjerseyfemaleinfertilitycenter.com/p_ovary_04.php). A final stage of these lesions occurs when they become irregular white scarred lesions (“burned out endometriosis”). Endometriomas or “chocolate cysts” contain old blood that has turned brown and can form along or within the ovary. For more information, see http://www.thenewjerseyfemaleinfertilitycenter.com/p_ovary_05.php.

Endometriosis pictures can allow one to become aware of the wide range of appearances of this potentially disabling gynecological problem. Surgical treatment of endometriosis can often improve fertility and relieve pelvic pain. Finding a surgeon with experience and success in the treatment of endometriosis is very important, and at The NJ Center for Fertility and Reproductive Medicine, LLC you will find that Dr. Eric Daiter has the experience and skill to help you.
